BFF Seahawks Fans Take Supernatural Sign as Blessing

The hometown Seahawks -- they of the gaudy 7-9 record and NFC West Division Championship -- are fresh off a shock-the-world 16-6 win over the St. Louis Rams and will host a Wildcard Playoff game this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Qwest Field.

Later today, the 12th Man Flag will be hoisted to the top of the city's iconic Space Needle in a sign of support and a collective thumbing of our noses at the NFL establishment, which has had no end of whining this week that a losing team is in the playoffs.

Bremerton Ferry Folk (BFF) of all walks of life were showing their Seahawks spirit today, snoozing beneath Steve Largent Snuggies and taking sips of Mad Dog 20/20 from Teal-and-Blue flasks. Some dusted off their Largent jerseys, bought in better economic times, and a few even looked at the pictures of yesterday's Pete Carroll presser in the Seattle Times Sports Page, piecing together enough information to realize there's a game tomorrow.

And halfway between  Bremerton and Seattle, the 6:20 boat encountered a Divine Intervention as the engines stalled and a Light from Heaven descended upon the boat. A voice -- clearly not the voice of King 5's Jim Foreman giving safety instructions in the event of a ship-board emergency -- was audible to the passengers: "Field Goals Won't Cut It. And for Pete's sake don't always check-down to the tailback on third and 4."

Many BFFs, accustomed to hearing voices in their heads, ignored the proclaimation and returned to their cross-word books, but the Ferry Boys heeded the news as one of hope, victory even!

And so, despite the nay-saying of Ferry Men Weather Guy and Salty Sailor, we at Ferry Tales are boldly predicting a 17-16 Seahawks win. The Hawks will trail 13-3 in the third quarter, but their lone successful offensive drive of the day will end with a Mike Williams TD reception, and the defense will convert a pick-six early in the fourth quarter to change a 10-point defecit into a 17-13 lead. The  Saints will add a final field goal but that will be it. The Seahawks will advance to Atlanta for the NFC Divisional round.
